Because Of Who He Is

I’m currently reading a book on how to worship the LORD and one particular statement has stood out in my mind over the past couple of weeks; the author explained that worship isn’t for us, it is for God. Throughout my years as a believer, I always felt like I needed worship before church service to warm me up and get the Holy Spirit flowing in and around me, but the reason this is happening is because I am worshipping my Father and He is granting me blessings from the Holy Spirit.

If you think about it, we aren’t worshipping because we need it, we are worshipping because the LORD wants it. We are giving thanks to Him for everything He has done in our lives. We are falling on our knees in prayer, asking for deliverance from the difficult things that are going on in our lives because we know He loves us and will help us. We are worshipping because God is good and He deserves our praise.

I remember the very first time I fell on my knees in church and was overcome with emotion because I realized that the LORD was going to save my life at that very moment. Even though there were many people all around me, It seemed like it was just me and Jesus in that church. My Savior, My King was holding me tighter than I’ve ever been held before and it was the first time I ever realized who He is and what He was about to do. I wanted Him forever.

What blessings have you experienced in your life? Mine are too many to count. Let’s remember to thank God for every good thing. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good (Psalm 100:4-5).” God is so wonderful, I can’t even put it into words. LORD, thank You!

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth (John 4:2-24).” How do we worship in spirit and truth? We pray, read our bibles and ask the LORD for discernment. God is faithful to tell us what we need to know if we ask. It’s helpful to memorize scripture, so you can give sound doctrine to whoever needs it at any given time and this will also help you to discern the things going on in your life as well.

God doesn’t need our worship, He desires it. When we get to Heaven, we will worship with the angels and we will be in constant praise of our Savior. Why wait until then? Worship Him now. Turn on some worship music and praise the God of Heaven who has blessed your life abundantly. Let’s give thanks to Him for our trials and blessings. He deserves it more than anyone, including ourselves. He desires us and loves us. We are so blessed!
